Thomas Designs & Construction, Inc. was founded in 2005 to provide distinctive professional remodeling and renovation services to residential clients in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. We are a full-service licensed general contractor in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland.

Turning old homes new

Many in the area live in older homes or properties that claim a “historic designation.” The challenge is to renovate and restore the home’s façade while maintaining its historic look. On the inside, however, homeowners have freer rein to design the interiors to their likes and needs. This transformation gives older homes a fresher, newer look that homeowners love. But we’re not limited to working on older homes; many clients want to make changes to newer homes as well. Overall, we like to say we take existing homes and make them nicer.

Owner Thomas Redding believes in a hands-on approach and meets with each and every homeowner himself to ensure a comfort level and complete satisfaction. Each project is defined with timeline milestones, project accounting and schedules, and quotes are all-inclusive so clients know what they are getting from the start. Design consultations and estimates are provided free of charge.

We believe communication is key and strive to keep clients informed each step of the way, encouraging and appreciating dialogue and open communication. We also believe in giving a little extra when we can. If we see a minor issue that needs to be fixed, we’ll usually just go ahead and fix it. We want you to be as proud of your new space as we are. That way we’ll continue to receive referrals.
